July and August we have been hard pressed to have enough beds per night. We are hoping to recruit volunteer crews for:
EMERGENCY INNS

If you and your family would like to volunteer a few hours in the months over the summer, we (and our guests) would be extremely thankful.

Ideas . . . While the kids are out of school, offer your family a life changing experience helping the homeless. Grandparents can bring a granddaughter or grandson or organize a barbecue or potluck and have fun!

Ideas . . . Do you have a team that could help out on a shift? Could you do Set up? Dinner? Clean Up? Overnight? Breakfast? or Lunches?

Ideas . . . If you can’t physically volunteer this summer, you could provide a small donation toward providing the meals at the Emergency Inns.

The homeless don’t take holidays!

Inn from the Cold has been an ongoing program of Grace Church since 1997. we are one of a network of 40 churches in Calgary area committed to sheltering the homeless; particularly families with children and single women in transition.

Each Tuesday evening, up to 15 homeless people are brought to Grace. they are welcomed and provided with a safe, warm and comfortable place ti stay for the night. A hot dinner is served along with breakfast the next morning. A bag lunch is given upon departure.

Volunteer crews set up the beds and dining area, shop for the food and prepare and serve the evening meal. A volunteer coordinator sleeps overnight while a night security person is present to ensure that all is well. In the morning, a breakfast team prepares, serves and cleans up after the meal. Last, a strike crew returns the beds to storage and delivers the linen to the laundry.

As Inn from the Cold operates every week of the year the need for volunteers is great. Most urgently needed are experienced cooks to be availab as substitutes when the regular volunteers are absent.
